abstract (57) [Abstract] [Purpose] To realize a wide range of multicolor EL from red to blue without the need for filters. [Structure] A transparent electrode 2 and a lower insulating film 3 were sequentially deposited on a glass 1 to form a substrate 4 for an EL element. On board 4, The phosphor thin film 5 was formed to a thickness of 600 to 800 nm. After depositing an upper insulating film 6 on the phosphor thin film 5, a back electrode 7 was deposited to form a thin film EL device. The phosphor thin film 5 is AB 2 A phosphor thin film mainly composed of a compound represented by the structural formula of C 4 : Re, wherein A is Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Eu. And at least one element selected from Yb, B is at least one element selected from Al, Ga and In, C is at least one element selected from S and Se, and Re is a rare earth additive.
