abstract (57) [Summary] (Modified) [Objective] To provide a method and apparatus that are small in size, consume little power, and accurately and quickly transfer visual and audio information from a master tape to a slave tape. [Structure] The master tape 10 is moved in a closed loop including a pinch roller, the slave tape 12 is moved in a closed loop including a capstan, and the master tape 10 is brought into contact with each other between the pinch roller and the capstan to provide a mirror image of magnetic information of the master tape 10. Are transferred to the thermomagnetic layer of the slave tape 12. The thermomagnetic layer has a Curie temperature at which magnetic information is destroyed at high temperature and information is transferred at low temperature. The thermomagnetic layer is heated to a temperature higher than the Curie temperature by a heater just before the capstan and thermally expanded. First The guide 151 is arranged on the downstream side of the heater and adjusts the tension of the slave tape. Vacuum pressure is applied to the upstream side to adjust the gap between the secondary tape 12 and the peripheral surface to control the tension.
