abstract | (57) [Summary] [Object] To provide a method for efficiently producing 3-nitrodiphenyl ether, which is useful as a raw material for agricultural chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and polymer materials, from an easily available and inexpensive raw material. [Structure] Meta-nitrobenzene is subjected to a condensation reaction with phenols in an organic polar solvent using a basic alkali metal salt as a condensing agent to produce the target 3-nitrodiphenyl ether in high yield. |
