abstract (57) [Abstract] [Purpose] To provide a crank angle discriminating device having a simple structure and capable of accurately discriminating a crank angle. [Structure] On a crank side disk 23 fixed to a crankshaft 20, one toothless portion 29a is provided in front of a projection 25a corresponding to TDC of cylinders 1 and 6 and a projection corresponding to TDC of cylinders 2 and 5. Two consecutive toothless portions 29b before 25b, 29c are formed respectively. The ignition cylinder is discriminated by counting the number of consecutive toothless portions 29 through the electromagnetic pickup type crankshaft sensor 21. Therefore, the crank angle can be accurately determined regardless of changes in the engine speed. Protrusion 2 corresponding to TDC of cylinders 3 and 4 There is no toothless portion in the vicinity of 5c, and TDC is determined based on the rotation fluctuation. Therefore, the number of toothless portions 29 can be reduced.
