General formula (III): (In the formula, Ph represents an o-nitrophenyl group, a p-nitrophenyl group, or a 2,4-dinitrophenyl group.) A method for producing a 2- (furfurylthio) acetic acid phenyl derivative. [Effect] The post-treatment operation, which is very complicated in the conventional method for producing a 2- (furfurylthio) acetic acid phenyl derivative, can be greatly simplified, and the 2- (furfurylthio) acetic acid phenyl derivative can be efficiently produced. .
