abstract (57) [Summary] [Structure] A process for producing cyclopentanedicarboxylic acid, which comprises hydrogenating cyclopentadienedicarboxylic acid in water or a solvent containing water as a main component. [Effect] By hydrogenating cyclopentadiene dicarboxylic acid in a water solvent, it is possible to produce a cyclopentanedicarboxylic acid with little coloration without decomposition of the raw material and with good yield.
