abstract | (57) [Summary] [Object] To provide a hydrophobic silica powder obtained by a simplified process and a newly produced hydrophobic silica coating. [Structure] A silica sol for forming hydrophobic silica was prepared by mixing 50 ml of ethyl orthosilicate, 10 ml of ethanol, 10 ml of distilled water, and 20 g of carbon tetrachloride, and adding hydrochloric acid into the system until pH 2 was reached. Mix and stir for hours, It was prepared by aging still standing. Using this silica sol, a film was formed on the surface of a substrate by a dipping method to obtain a hydrophobic silica film. On the other hand, a hydrophobic silica powder was obtained by drying this silica sol. The hydrophobicity of the obtained coating film and powder was confirmed by investigating the peak intensity attributed to water adsorbed on the surface silanol in the FT-IR absorption spectrum. |
