[Effect] Since this compound exhibits ferroelectricity in a wide temperature range and has low viscosity, a composition with high-speed response can be obtained by using this compound. This composition has a tendency to exhibit a preferable phase sequence and is excellent in orientation, so that it is useful as a material for a liquid crystal display device.
