abstract (57) [Summary] (Correction) [Purpose] To provide an atmospheric pressure ionization mass spectrometry method and apparatus capable of achieving high-sensitivity measurement of an ultratrace component for which sufficient high-sensitivity measurement could not be performed. [Structure] A third component ion, which ionizes a minor component molecule faster than a major component ion ionizes a minor component molecule, is allowed to exist in the ionization region, and by the ion-molecule reaction between the third component ion and the minor component molecule. An atmospheric pressure ionization mass spectrometric method characterized by efficiently ionizing a minor component molecule, and providing a sample gas introduction pipe 7 with a molecular sieve trap 3 further downstream from the molecular sieve trap 3. The sample gas introducing pipe 7 is branched from a gas introducing pipe having a molecular sieve trap 4, and when the sample gas is nitrogen, the gas introduced from the branching introducing pipe is argon.
