titleOfInvention Crystal growth method of beta barium borate
abstract (57) [Summary] [Objective] A method for growing crystals of β-BaB 2 O 4 (BBO) from solution, growing single crystals of BBO of sufficient size and quality for large-scale applications. In order to obtain and avoid spurious nucleation, minimize solvent volatilization, and improve BBO crystals with the desired shape of minimal inclusions and practical and useful dimensions. A process of preparing a mixture of a BaB 2 O 4 solution and a pure NaCl solvent, a process of heating the mixture to form a melt thereof, and a process of BaB in the melt. A step of suspending a seed crystal of 2 O 4, a step of maintaining a specific heat field condition through the melt, and a step of crystallizing β-BaB 2 O 4 from the melt on the seed crystal. Gradually reducing the temperature of the melt.
