abstract | (57) [Abstract] [PROBLEMS] To provide a method for manufacturing a magnetic recording medium that reduces head wear, particularly head wear at the beginning of tape running, has a small VTR compatible output difference, and has excellent RF output. A magnetic recording medium in which a magnetic layer containing a ferromagnetic powder, a binder, an additive, and an abrasive having a Mohs hardness of 8 or more is provided on a non-magnetic support, and the surface of the magnetic layer is burnished by an abrasive tape. The method for producing a magnetic recording medium, wherein the surface of the magnetic layer is burnished with an abrasive tape containing at least one abrasive having a Mohs hardness higher than that of the abrasive contained in the magnetic layer. |
