abstract (57) [Summary] [Structure] A prophylactic or therapeutic agent for Alzheimer's disease, which comprises a substance having an inhibitory action on tau protein kinase I, and an antisense oligonucleotide capable of hybridizing with tau protein kinase I DNA or mRNA. Prophylactic or therapeutic agent for Alzheimer's disease containing as an active ingredient, and a drug presumed to be effective as a prophylactic or therapeutic agent for Alzheimer's disease, nerve cells and amyloid β protein are incubated to prevent cell death of the nerve cells A screening method for a prophylactic or therapeutic drug for Alzheimer's disease, wherein the drug is determined to be effective as a prophylactic or therapeutic drug for Alzheimer's disease. [Effect] According to the prophylactic and therapeutic agent for Alzheimer's disease of the present invention, cerebral nerve cell death can be inhibited by suppressing the phosphorylation activity of tau protein kinase I by amyloid β protein. Furthermore, it is possible to screen for a preventive or therapeutic drug for Alzheimer's disease by utilizing the mechanism.
