abstract (57) [Summary] [Object] To provide an optical disk reproducing apparatus and method in which an optical head is moved to a track position of a target time by one track jump during access. [Structure] An optical head 13 for the optical disk 12 Means 14 and 15 for obtaining the current time of the track position being accessed by the user, means 16 for reading the time per round of the track position from the ROM table 17, and the target time of the track position to which the optical head should move. Means 18, a means 16 for calculating the number of tracks to be moved by the optical head from the time per one round based on the time difference between the current time and the target time, and means 15 for performing a track jump by this number of tracks. The optical disc reproducing apparatus 10 is configured so as to include 14 and 13.
