Method for extracting metal oxides from coal fly ash |
abstract |
(57) [Summary] [Purpose] To extract metal oxides from coal fly ash by bio-induction method. The ash is suspended in a saline solution having a pH range of 5 to 8 and this suspension is inoculated with a microbial strain capable of growing in the saline solution and capable of binding metal oxides, Then, the obtained aggregate is separated. A novel Gram-positive bacterium designated GIN-1 and a member of the genus Rhodococcus is described. It has been deposited with the National Collection of Industrial and Marine Bacteria (NCIMB) in Aberdeen, Scotland under the number 40340. G IN-1 is particularly suitable for biotechnological treatment of metal oxides from coal fly ash. |
