abstract (57) [Summary] [Purpose] To obtain a novel non-aqueous electrolyte battery having high voltage, high energy density, excellent discharge characteristics, high withstand voltage, and high long-term reliability. A positive electrode active material for a non-aqueous electrolyte battery comprising at least a negative electrode containing lithium or a substance capable of inserting and extracting lithium as an active material and a positive electrode containing a lithium ion conductive non-aqueous electrolyte and a metal oxide as an active material. A steel containing 17% to 20% by weight of chromium and 1.75% to 2.5% by weight of molybdenum is used as a positive electrode constituent member that is in direct contact with the material or is electrically connected and is in contact with the electrolyte. [Effect] According to the present invention, processing is easy and inexpensive, Moreover, it is possible to manufacture a battery having a high voltage and a high energy density and excellent charge and discharge characteristics. It is particularly effective for batteries that require long-term stability.
