abstract (57) [Summary] [Purpose] A system that does not contain sodium azide and produces a large amount of gas without substantially producing carbon monoxide. Moreover, by keeping the combustion temperature low, the amount of coolant in the gas generator can be reduced, and the gas generator can be downsized. [Structure] Pelletized gas generating agent 7 is filled and arranged in combustion chamber 3 in gas generator 1. This gas generating composition contains cellulose acetate and potassium perchlorate as main components, and contains 36 wt% or less of a hydrate of bitetrazole metal salt. As the hydrate of the bitetrazole metal salt, a dihydrate of the bitetrazole manganese salt is preferable because it does not generate a corrosive residue after burning.
