Ampholyte terpolymers that give excellent conditioning properties for shampoos and other hair care products |
abstract |
(57) [Summary] [Structure] (a) 1-95% by weight of nonionic monomer acrylamide, (b) 5-80% by weight of cationic monomer dimethylallylammonium chloride and (c) A cosmetically acceptable medium containing 0.1-10% by weight of an ampholyte terpolymer having a weight average molecular weight of about 10,000 to 10 million, which comprises 1-75% by weight of anionic monomer acrylic acid. A composition for use in hair treatment is provided. The present invention provides a composition capable of retaining the desired balance of beneficial conditioning properties imparted by each component of the terpolymer. |
