abstract (57) [Abstract] [Purpose] In a magnetic recording medium having a magnetic layer provided on one or both sides of a non-magnetic support, a tertiary alcohol at the molecular end of perfluoropolyether containing a carboxyl group at one end. By using a compound obtained by esterifying a vinyl ester as a lubricant, the still durability is improved and a magnetic recording medium having excellent reliability is obtained. In a magnetic recording medium having a magnetic layer provided on one side or both sides of a non-magnetic support, a tertiary alcohol is attached to the molecular end of a perfluoropolyether containing a carboxyl group at one end.
