titleOfInvention | Method for producing high-purity benzyl-β-naphthyl ether |
abstract | (57) [Summary] [Structure] A method for producing high-purity benzyl-β-naphthyl ether, comprising the steps of adding benzyl chloride and β-naphthol in the presence of an alkali metal hydroxide, carbonate or bicarbonate. The reaction is carried out at 20 to 130 ° C. in a polar solvent selected from N, N-dimethylformamide, N, N-dimethylacetamide and N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone. [Effect] According to the method of the present invention, benzyl-β-naphthyl ether having a purity of 99.9 mol% or more can be obtained without performing a special recrystallization operation. When the benzyl-β-naphthyl ether thus produced is used as a sensitizer for a thermal recording paper, it is possible to produce a thermal recording paper excellent in color developing sensitivity and storage stability. |
