titleOfInvention Method for producing cyclopropanecarboxylic acid
abstract (57) [Abstract] [PROBLEMS] To provide a method for producing industrially useful cyclopropanecarboxylic acid in a short time and in a high yield in a small number of steps with reduced wastewater treatment. [Structure] In a reaction for producing a cyclopropanecarboxylic acid by subjecting a γ-chlorobutyric acid ester to a cyclization reaction with toluene as a solvent in the presence of a phase transfer catalyst and an alkali, and then hydrolyzing the obtained cyclopropanecarboxylic acid ester. The use amount of the alkali is 2.1 to 4 times mol of the γ-chlorobutyric acid ester, and the use amount of the γ-chlorobutyric acid ester is 10% by weight or more in toluene. Process for producing cyclopropanecarboxylic acid.
