titleOfInvention Porous metal medium
abstract (57) Abstract: The present invention provides metal particulates and porous metal media with enhanced resistance to unwanted oxidation, and processes for their preparation. The porous metal medium of the present invention comprises sintered metal granules each having a core and a surface, wherein the granules comprise (a) at least about 60% by weight containing at least one of iron and nickel. (B) at least about 11% by weight of chromium; and (c) not more than about 0.06% by weight of carbon. The surface of the particulate is enriched with at least one treating element in an amount and depth sufficient to increase the resistance of the particulate to unwanted oxidation. The invention further comprises Includes fine metal filter media formed from sintered metal fibers, which media have high resistance to corrosion and / or high temperature oxidation.
