(57) [Summary] [Structure] A modified bitumen having improved elastic properties and improved low temperature flexibility is prepared by melting plasticized polyvinyl butyral into a molten bitumen and using a mono-, oligo- or polyalkylene as a solubilizing agent. The glycol dialkyl ether is prepared by intimate mixing, optionally in combination with solubilizing co-component polystyrene. The modified bitumen produced according to the present invention has significantly improved elastic properties and low temperature flexibility compared to the starting bitumen used. |
