abstract |
(57) Summary: An elastomeric polymer composition exhibiting improved processability and green strength is from about 95 to about 7 for a total of 100 parts by weight of rubbery polymer and block copolymer. 0 parts by weight of one rubbery polymer selected from the group consisting of butyl rubber, chlorinated butyl rubber and brominated butyl rubber, and about 5 to about 30 parts by weight of an elastomeric polyisobutylene midblock and polymerized monovinylidene aroma. Block copolymers having two plastomer-like end blocks of a group monomer, as well as stars with 3 to 6 arms, the inner elastomeric block being polyisobutylene and the outer plastomer-like block being a polymerized monovinylidene aromatic monomer A shaped block copolymer. EFFECTS Vulcanized rubber products of compositions exhibiting reduced gas permeability and improved tear strength are provided along with methods for their manufacture. |
