(57) [Summary] [Structure] An internal olefin polymerization catalyst obtained by contacting a metallocene-based transition metal catalyst component, clay, a clay mineral or an ion-exchange layered compound and an organoaluminum compound, and the catalyst and, if necessary, an organic compound. A method for producing an internal olefin copolymer, wherein aluminum is added to polymerize an internal olefin. [Effect] According to the method of the present invention, an internal olefin polymer can be obtained with extremely high polymerization activity, and is industrially useful. |
