titleOfInvention | Liquid crystal panel and liquid crystal display device using the same |
abstract | (57) [Summary] [Structure] A pixel electrode of a liquid crystal panel is formed of a light-transmitting conductive material or the like, and a reflective electrode 23 is formed on a counter substrate 21. The pixel electrode 24 has a laminated structure of a dielectric thin film having an optical film thickness of λ / 4 (λ is a design main wavelength) and an ITO film having a λ / 2. The laminated structure prevents reflected light at the interface of the pixel electrode 24. A diffraction grating having an uneven cross-sectional shape is formed on the reflective electrode 23. A polymer dispersed liquid crystal is used as the liquid crystal 26. When no voltage is applied to the liquid crystal layer, a refractive index difference occurs between the diffraction grating and the liquid crystal, the incident light is diffracted, and when a voltage is applied, the refractive index of the liquid crystal changes, and the refractive index between the diffraction grating and the liquid crystal layer changes. The refractive index difference disappears and the incident light goes straight. [Effect] Since a polymer dispersed liquid crystal is used, high brightness display can be performed. Further, the effect of the diffraction grating or the like enables high contrast display. |
