abstract |
(57) [Summary] [Structure] A microorganism of the genus Rhodococcus was added to a mixture of R, S-mandelonitrile and its derivative or benzaldehyde and its derivative and hydrocyanic acid in a near neutral or basic aqueous medium. The reaction directly produces a predominant amount of R (−)-mandelic acid and its derivatives. [Effect] Approximately 80 to 100% of the racemic R, S-mandelonitrile and its derivative or benzaldehyde and its derivative and hydrocyanic acid are directly converted into R (-) without optical resolution. -R (-)-mandelic acid and its derivatives, which can be converted to mandelic acid and its derivatives with optical purity of almost 100% ee , which is significantly superior in operation and economy to conventional manufacturing methods. A method for producing the derivative may be provided. |
