abstract | (57) [Summary] [Structure] An epoxy resin composition for semiconductor encapsulation comprising an epoxy resin, a curing agent containing a hydroxyl group-substituted aromatic compound represented by the following general formula, and an inorganic filler. {In the formula, X is each independently an alkyl group or a halogen atom, Y is each independently an alkyl group, a halogen atom or an alkoxy group, and R 1 and R 2 are each a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or an aryl group. Or R 1 And R 2 together form a cycloalkyl group. j is an integer of 1 to 3, k is an integer of 0 to 2, p is an integer of 1 or more and not more than the number represented by (8-j-k), and m is 1 or 2. And n is an integer of 0-2. } The curing agent preferably contains 25% by weight or more of the compound represented by the above general formula, and the content of Na 2 and Cl 2 in the curing agent is preferably 10 ppm or less.
