abstract (57) [Summary] [Objective] To provide a rare earth oxide superconductor having excellent superconducting properties, in which Ag component is uniformly dispersed in the superconducting crystal phase. [Constitution] RE-Ba-Cu-O-based oxide superconductor (RE Represents a rare earth element. ) RE, Ba and Cu A molded body obtained by molding a raw material powder consisting of a component and an Ag component is heat-treated at a temperature equal to or higher than the decomposition and melting temperature of the oxide superconductor, and then under an atmosphere having an oxygen partial pressure of 0.001 to 0.05 atm. A method for producing a rare earth oxide superconductor, characterized by gradually cooling from a temperature below the freezing point of an Ag component to grow the oxide superconducting crystal phase.
