abstract (57) [Summary] [Objective] To develop an industrially advantageous method for producing inosine by fermentation. [Composition] Guanosine, xanthosine, belonging to the genus Bacillus, A microorganism which has the ability to produce inosine and guanosine or inosine and xanthosine and which is adenine auxotrophic, is transformed with a DNA encoding a microorganism-derived DNA gyrase inhibitor resistance gene and IMP dehydrogenase low expression gene, A method for producing inosine, which comprises culturing the microorganism in a medium, causing inosine to be produced and accumulated in the culture, and collecting the inosine. According to the present invention, inosine can be produced industrially advantageously with high yield.
