abstract (57) [Summary] [Purpose] To prevent deterioration of the secondary battery during rapid charging. [Structure] A change in battery voltage during charging is detected, and a second-order differential value of a battery voltage curve is obtained. A time point C at which this value changes from a positive value to a negative value is obtained, and based on this time point C, the rapid charging is suspended for a predetermined period and then the rapid charging is restarted. The second-order differential value of the battery voltage curve is obtained again, and the rapid charging is terminated when this value changes from positive to negative or when the amount of change in voltage per unit time becomes zero.
