abstract | (57) [Abstract] [Purpose] To provide a metal halide lamp device having a long-life ventilation mechanism in which the devitrification rate is suppressed without degrading the color characteristics. [Structure] A reflecting and heat insulating film 3 is applied to one seal portion of an arc tube 1 having a main electrode 2 at both ends so as to surround the main electrode 2, and a blower nozzle 5 is provided to the other opposing seal portion. The integrally provided base 4 is attached so that the air blowing nozzle 5 blows air toward the upper part of the arc tube, and the heat insulating material 6 is provided on the upper surface of the seal portion on the side where the air blowing nozzle is arranged to provide a metal halide lamp for horizontal lighting.
