abstract | (57) [Summary] [Objective] A crystalline wholly aromatic polyester having a low melting point and excellent moldability and a high degree of polymerization and having a high degree of polymerization as compared with a polymer having the same chemical composition is efficiently produced by melt polycondensation. [Structure] (a) Isophthalic acid or an aromatic dicarboxylic acid containing isophthalic acid as a main component, (b) hydroquinone, (C) 4,4'-dihydroxydiphenyl and p-hydroxybenzoic acid, 2-hydroxy-6-naphthoic acid or a functional derivative thereof, at least one component selected from the group consisting of, and (d) Phenols are heated and melt-reacted in the presence of an ester catalyst at a specific ratio to produce a crystalline wholly aromatic polyester having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.4 to 2. |
