(57) [Summary] [Structure] A method for producing a carboxylic acid, which comprises contacting a formate ester with a strong inorganic acid catalyst in a liquid phase in a closed container in which a gas phase does not substantially exist. [Effect] Desorption of carbon monoxide from the reaction system can be suppressed, Carboxylic acid can be efficiently produced by using a smaller amount of inorganic acid than before. Further, the removal of carbon monoxide, the danger in operation, etc., which have been problems in the past, were significantly reduced. In particular, when a continuous reaction vessel was used as the reaction system, operability, productivity, etc. were remarkably improved. |
