abstract (57) [Summary] [Object] To provide a magneto-optical recording medium excellent in long-term weather resistance and a manufacturing method thereof. In a magneto-optical recording medium in which at least a magneto-optical recording layer and an organic protective layer are laminated on a transparent substrate, the amount of organic acid component of the medium contained in the extracted component extracted by immersing the medium in warm water is 10 ppm or less. In manufacturing the magneto-optical recording medium, and the magneto-optical recording medium, the magneto-optical recording medium is formed in the lower alcohol having a carbon number of 4 or less or pure water after forming the organic protective layer. A method for manufacturing a magneto-optical recording medium, which comprises dipping.
