titleOfInvention Method for manufacturing translucent substrate for optical writing head
abstract (57) [Summary] [Objective] An arbitrary refractive index is formed in an arbitrary pattern in a light-transmissive substrate for an optical writing head by using a laser beam by a method having a simple process and a low manufacturing cost. [Structure] A transparent substrate 1 held in a potassium nitrate solution is irradiated with laser light through a mirror 3 and a lens system 4, A desired refractive index distribution is realized in the translucent substrate 1 by the optical damage caused at this time and the ion exchange due to the temperature rise.
