abstract (57) [Summary] [Purpose] To identify the ground and stripes of the epidermis of net melon with high accuracy. [Structure] A light source 1 irradiates a net-type melon a with near infrared rays. Of the reflected light from the melon a, only near-infrared light having a predetermined wavelength that is applied to the water absorption band passes through the filter 2. Therefore, the image obtained by photographing with the image input device 3 is formed from the information on the moisture distribution. The image processing computer 4 identifies the ground and stripes of the melon skin from the image.
