titleOfInvention Method for purifying keto acid
abstract (57) [Abstract] [Purpose] A keto acid derivative obtained by the reaction of N, N-dialkyl-m-aminophenol and phthalic anhydride, which contains a coloring substance such as a by-produced rhodamine compound. Another object of the present invention is to provide a method for purifying a keto acid derivative by industrially advantageously removing such a coloring substance from the keto acid derivative without using an alkali or the like. [Structure] General formula (I) obtained by the reaction of N, N-dialkyl-m-aminophenol and phthalic anhydride (In the formula, R 1 and R 2 each independently represent an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms.) In the method for purifying a keto acid derivative, the keto acid derivative is used as a hydrogenation catalyst in a reaction solvent. Hydrogenate in the presence of the keto acid derivative from the resulting reaction solution.
