(57) [Abstract] [Purpose] To reduce the cost of alkaline storage batteries and improve high rate discharge characteristics. [Constitution] A positive electrode plate is prepared by using carbon hydroxide as a conductive agent and water glass as a binder in nickel hydroxide which is a positive electrode active material. [Effect] With this configuration, it is possible to significantly reduce the amount of expensive cobalt hydroxide and reduce the cost, and it is possible to significantly improve the high-rate discharge characteristics as compared with the battery using the conventional carbon-added positive electrode.
