abstract (57) [Abstract] [Purpose] In an electro-optical device using a color filter, especially in an electro-optical device having a large display capacity, a light-shielding layer and a metal layer that also serves as an electrical conductor are used to prevent light leakage, thereby providing contrast. (EN) Provided is a structure capable of easily achieving high image quality by preventing crosstalk by improving the ratio and reducing the rounding of an applied waveform by reducing wiring resistance by using a metal layer. A color filter 5 is provided on at least one transparent substrate 1 of two transparent substrates sandwiching a liquid crystal layer via a seal portion, and a flattening layer 13 is provided on the color filter 5. In the electro-optical device in which the transparent electrode 6 for display is formed via the light-shielding layer 2 is formed of a metal layer formed in a stripe shape along the color filter 5, and the metal layer also serves as an electric conductor and is transparent for display. The electrode 6 and the color filter 5, and the color filter 5 and the color filter 5 are electrically connected to each other through the through hole 4 provided in the flattening layer 13.
