abstract (57) [Summary] [Purpose] To increase the heat resistance and reduce the refractive index of optical resins. [Structure] A low refractive index resin made of a fluorinated aromatic compound having a refractive index of 1.4 or less. Fluorinated aromatic compounds include fluorinated pitch and fluorinated aromatic compounds composed of 7 or less rings. Fluorinated pitch is obtained by reacting pitch and fluorine at about 0 to 350 ° C. The fluorinated pitch includes transparent resinous fluorinated pitch. Fluoride pitch has a softening point and is easy to mold, and a film can be formed by vapor deposition or coating. Fluoride pitch can be used as a clad material for optical transmission fibers, a surface protective agent, and the like.
