(57) [Summary] [Objective] The crude biphenyldicarboxylic acid containing impurities and coloring components obtained by the oxidation reaction of dialkylbiphenyl and the like can be easily purified without using a large amount of alkali, acid and water. Biphenyldicarboxylic acid having high purity and good hue is efficiently produced with high recovery rate. [Structure] Crude biphenyldicarboxylic acid obtained by oxidizing disubstituted biphenyls is dissolved in a mixed solvent of amines and alcohols for crystallization, and the separated crystallization product is heated to a temperature not lower than the boiling point of alkylamines. Purity 99% by heating By the above, biphenyldicarboxylic acid having a good hue is obtained. |
