titleOfInvention Liquid crystal display element
abstract (57) [Abstract] [Purpose] Ferroelectric liquid crystal display device with excellent display quality. A ferroelectric liquid crystal composition is provided between a pair of substrates each having a pixel region and a non-pixel region formed by arranging a pair of substrates having an electrode and an alignment film formed on a surface thereof in order to face each other. In a liquid crystal display device having at least a structure in which a ferroelectric liquid crystal composition is sandwiched, the pixel region has a thickness of a liquid crystal layer in which the ferroelectric liquid crystal composition exhibits bistability, and the non-pixel region has a ferroelectric liquid crystal composition. Has a liquid crystal layer thickness that does not exhibit bistability.
