abstract | (57) [Abstract] [Purpose] To form a medical image on the image receiving sheet with good color reproduction and gradation reproduction of light red by using a thermal transfer sheet. A thermal transfer sheet comprising a base film 22 and a thermal transfer sheet 20 of three primary colors of yellow, magenta, and cyan on which a dye layer 21 composed of a dye and a binder is provided, and an image receiving sheet 30 having a dye receiving layer 31. A full-color image is formed on the image receiving sheet 30 by imagewise heating from the back surface of the thermal head 9 which is driven and controlled by the controller 10. The chromaticity value of the image 33 formed when an achromatic image signal is input to the control device 10 is L * = 80. When: (a * = 0, b * = 0), (a * = 20, b * = -5), (a * = 18, b * = 15) and (a * = 0, b * = 15), the gradation is corrected by the control device 10 so as to be within a range surrounded by four points. Further, under normal image forming conditions in which gradation correction is not performed, when an achromatic image signal is input to the control device 10, the dye layer 21 of the thermal transfer sheet 20 is set so as to fall within the above range of chromaticity values.
