titleOfInvention | Articles for removing iodide ions from photographic processing solution having fixing ability and method of using the same |
abstract | (57) [Summary] (Modified) [Objective] To provide a system capable of effectively and easily removing iodine ions from a fixer without using an expensive device or a polluting chemical. The substrate 12 is coated with an iodide absorbing medium 14, the ionic polymer 16 is provided in the form of an absorbing medium, and a layer in which an ionic surfactant 18 is incorporated is provided on the polymer. The ionic surfactant 18 may also be placed in the layer between the polymer and the absorbent medium. The polymer 16 is preferably a copolymer of methacrylate, methacrylamide, acrylate, or acrylamide monomer in which at least one monomer is cationic and the other is nonionic. Surfactants 18 include, in particular, sodium di- and tri-isopropylnaphthalene sulfonate marketed under the trade name Alkanol ™ XC and sodium sulfosuccinate marketed under the trade name Aerosol ™ OT. Mixtures with nate diesters are preferred. |
