titleOfInvention | Karl-Fusher coulometric titration counter electrode liquid |
abstract | (57) [Summary] (Corrected) [Purpose] To obtain a counter solution for Karl Fischer coulometric titration that does not contain carbon tetrachloride, which is a problematic carcinogen. [Structure] A nitro compound is mixed with a solvent having an alcoholic OH such as methanol, and a solution prepared by dissolving an alkali halide in a concentration of 0.1 to 1.0 M is used as a counter electrode solution. By including the nitro compound, the electrolytic reaction at the cathode causes reduction electrolysis of the nitro compound, and the product thereof does not interfere with the reaction of water titration in the anode chamber. In addition, the alkali halide increases the electric conductivity. Nitroparaffin, nitromethane, nitroethane, nitrobutane, etc. are used as the nitro compound, and lithium chloride, sodium iodide, potassium iodide, etc. are used as the alkali halide. |
