titleOfInvention Acid anhydride and method for producing the same
abstract (57) [Summary] [Objective] To provide a novel acid anhydride and a method for producing the same. According to the present invention, a novel compound, 1-aryl-1 -Butenyl-3-succinic anhydride was provided. This compound can be produced by reacting 1-aryl-2-butenes with maleic anhydride. Since the compound is liquid at room temperature and has good workability, it is suitable for use as a curing agent for epoxy resin. Moreover, The epoxy resin cured in this way has superior thermal stability to that cured with a conventional acid anhydride having poor workability. The compounds of the present invention are also useful as sizing agents for papermaking, raw materials for plasticizers, resin modifiers, lubricant additives, rust preventives and the like.
