titleOfInvention | Method for removing nitrous oxide from a gas mixture |
abstract | (57) [Summary] [Purpose] Development of a catalytic process to destroy N 2 O emissions prior to the emission of commercial process emissions to the atmosphere. A catalytic process that is substantially unaffected by the coexistence of oxygen has a structure type selected from the group consisting of BETA, MOR, MFI, MEL and FER, at least in part, for an N 2 O containing gas mixture. It is brought into contact with a catalyst composed of a crystalline zeolite composed of a 5-membered ring, and the crystalline zeolite is mixed with a metal selected from the group consisting of copper, cobalt, rhodium, iridium, ruthenium and palladium, and N 2 O. Is at least partially ion-exchanged under conditions sufficient to convert the gas to gaseous nitrogen and gaseous oxygen. The catalyst has much greater activity in converting N 2 O to nitrogen and oxygen gases and is not significantly deactivated when coexisting with oxygen in the process feed stream. |
