A method comprising reacting an aldehyde or an asymmetric ketone with a cyanide group donor in a diluent in the presence of S-hydroxynitrile lyase and then isolating the formed cyanohydrin from the reaction mixture. A method for enantioselectively producing an optically active S enantiomer of cyanohydrin by reacting an asymmetric ketone with a cyanide group donor. |
