abstract (57) [Summary] [Object] The present invention provides a novel method for inhibiting the induction of nitric oxide production in a biological system by bacterial endotoxins and cytokines. [Structure] A method of the above-mentioned inhibition in a patient requiring inhibition of nitric oxide synthesis from arginine in vascular smooth muscle cells, comprising: At least one tetrahuman rhobiopterin synthesis antagonist, or (b) at least one pterin-salvage pathway tetrahuman robiopterin synthesis antagonist One, or (a) and (b), a method comprising administering to the patient a therapeutically effective amount that inhibits nitric oxide synthesis.
