abstract (57) [Summary] (Modified) [Objective] To provide a novel method for producing a glycerol derivative from an epoxy group-containing alcohol having an ester group susceptible to hydrolysis in a molecule without damaging the ester group. A method for producing a glycerol derivative of formula (III) or (IV), comprising the step of reacting an epoxy group-containing compound of formula (I) with an oxygen-containing gas in the presence of an organonickel compound. [In the formula, R 1 , R 2 and R 3 represent a hydrogen atom, a linear or branched alkyl group or an aryl group, which may have a substituent, and are R 1 and R 2 or R 1 and R 3. 3 is R 4 may be a linear or branched alkyl group or aryl group, which may have a substituent, and n is 1 or 2] which may be bonded to each other to form a ring. [Wherein R 1 , R 2 , R 3 and R 4 are defined in the general formula (I).
